Updated: July 13, 2015 05:48 IST, Even as the in-service municipal workers continue their strike, it is now the turn of retired State government employees to make similar demands. The Telangana Government Pensioners Association has demanded that their pension be hiked as it has been a long-standing demand.
Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, K. Komurelli, president of the Association, said that since the State government had increased the salaries of employees, the demand for increasing pension should also be considered. “Many retired government employees participated in the Telangana agitation but received no help after the formation of the new State. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced before the elections that he was in favour of implementation of the Tenth Pay Revision Commission, according to which pension should increase and we should receive arrears,” he said. . The members said that they were planning to form a JAC (Joint Action Committee) in the next few days in a bid to bring the 2.40 lakh pensioners of Telangana together and mount pressure on the government.
